In 1998, the Zambian Acapella Boys Choir was brought to the USA to sing and raise money for their education. The Bertels hosted some of the Zambian boys over the weekend, while they performed at their church. Soon after, the Bertels learned the boys never received the money or education they were promised. Immigration stepped in to end what was found to be human trafficking. From here, a ripple effect began.
