By 2035, sub-Saharan Africa will have a working population larger than the entire rest of the world combined. Thus, it is critical for education in Zambia to reach new levels with skills creating and promoting more science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) jobs. Without an investment in STEM education, Zambia’s long-term economic prospects and growth will continue to be constrained by the severe skills shortage.
In February 2023, African Vision of Hope opened the first STEM Academy in Zambia. It will be the first of its kind and will address critical areas with a quality education, equipping a bright student body of 400 with the skills they desperately need. African Vision of Hope Christian Academy of Science and Technology has attracted highly educated and motivated teachers whose passion is to share the gospel and help students reach their full potential. The school is equipped with advanced learning materials, laptops, internet, science and chemistry labs. There will also be opportunities for competitions in robotics and chess.
Phase 2 will include 8 additional classrooms for technology, science and design. It also will include an open auditorium to be used for chapel, various training, competitions and graduations, and boarding homes for students to live on campus.
