VOLUNTEER FAQ

Q: What kind of opportunities are available?

A: There are several opportunities to serve at African Vision of Hope: It can be as simple as helping with a bulk mailing, helping with special events, sorting inventory or loading donations. A list of opportunities are on the website under volunteer.

Q: How do I sign up for an opportunity?

A: On the website , under the volunteer tab, you can fill out your information and someone will contact you about more details. You can also stop in the office at 8 Professional Park Dr in Maryville or call us with any questions at 618-288-7695.

Q: How much time do I need to volunteer?

A: This is really up to you. You can find volunteering opportunities that only take one hour per month, to a few days a week. Some roles are for one-off events, some are short term and others might need a weekly commitment. You can volunteer whenever it works into your schedule. While most volunteering takes place during office hours, there are occasional opportunities you can volunteer during evenings or weekends.

Q: Will I get training?

A: Yes, we will show you step by step what you need to do and you are always welcome to ask any questions during the way.

Q: Can I volunteer from home?

A: Volunteering from home is an increasingly popular way of volunteering. We have many groups that take on big projects and work on them from the comfort of their home. Example opportunities are sewing and hygiene kits.

Q: How old do I have to be to volunteer?

A: There are no age limits for volunteering generally but we ask anyone 16 and under to be with a parent or teacher when volunteering in person.

Q: Can I volunteer with my family or friends?

A: Some opportunities are suitable for group volunteering but they need to be approved and planned in advance. Please call our office if you have a group that is wanting to volunteer together.  We have had many schools, scout troops, homeschool organizations as well as fraternity and sorority groups volunteer with us.

Q: None of these FAQs answers my question, what do I do now?

A: If we haven’t covered your question please get in touch with us and we’ll be happy to help. You can call the office Monday through Friday 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM at  618-288-7695
