Leah takes her role as a pastor’s wife very seriously. So seriously that she followed in her husband Stephen’s footsteps and began attending seminary. Stephen is an African Vision of Hope sponsored seminary graduate.

“For a pastor to be effective, he needs a woman by his side who has knowledge and understanding of the requirements of a ministry. I know that God has called me to ministry and I have started a children’s ministry, but I need education to be able to teach the truth of God’s word.”

Because Stephen was in school full time, he was unable to work and also raise money for his wife’s schooling. So, Leah began working odd jobs to pay her tuition. “I started my studies not knowing how I would possibly pay all of my fees. Then, African Vision of Hope told me they were going to sponsor me. They lifted my burden. I can learn with a free mind because I know there is someone who God has brought to pay my fees. You are a light to many, including myself.”

After Stephen graduated seminary, he planted his own church. Leah continues to work on her theological studies and ministers alongside her husband, primarily with the women and children of their congregation. They are also starting a Sonshine Kidz Klub, a Saturday morning Bible club, at their church. She is thankful for the training her schooling has given her, especially the administrative skills, how to teach God’s truth, and how to lead people towards a goal with the resources they have been given.

Through African Vision of Hope sponsored seminary students like Stephen and Leah, communities are changing. Ears are hearing the word of God and lives are transforming. By coming alongside these students you extend the arms of Jesus from your local churches into the churches and communities of Zambia.
